Hi @ichido-yo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error cups-pki-invalid typically indicates a problem with the printer's SSL certificate or its connection to the CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) service. This can happen when the printer is not properly authenticated on your network or there is an issue with the communication between your device and the printer. Here are some steps to resolve this issue.

Check Printer’s SSL Certificate

  • The printer may have an invalid or expired SSL certificate. You can try to reset the printer's network settings to ensure it refreshes its certificates:
    • Reset Network Settings: Go to the printer’s settings menu, find the Network or Wireless settings, and select the option to Restore Network Defaults. This will reset the connection and may help with the authentication issue.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that the printer's firmware is up-to-date. Manufacturers often release firmware updates to address bugs like this one.
    • You can check for firmware updates on the printer's Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update or visit HP's support website for instructions.

Check Printer’s IP Address

  • Ensure the printer has a valid IP address and is connected to your home network. If the IP address has changed or the printer is using a static IP, it might be causing issues with authentication.
    • You can print a Network Configuration Page directly from the printer’s control panel to verify its IP address.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Remove the current printer setup on your computer and reinstall the drivers to reset any possible errors in the communication.
    • Mac Users: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, remove the printer, and then add it again using the "Add Printer" option.
    • Windows Users: Open the Devices and Printers section, remove the printer, and reinstall it from the HP Smart app or the official HP website.

Reconfigure CUPS

  • If you are using CUPS on a Linux-based system to manage the print jobs, check the configuration files.
    • You may need to clear the SSL certificate cache in the CUPS service by deleting or renaming the certs directory.
    • Restart the CUPS service:
  • sudo systemctl restart cups
    • Or, manually restart the printer server using the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631 (if accessible).

Disable SSL/TLS Validation (if applicable)

  • If you are using a local server or print service (like CUPS), you might try disabling SSL/TLS validation temporarily to see if this resolves the issue, though this is generally not recommended due to security risks.
    • Modify the configuration settings of your print service to bypass SSL validation.

Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

  • As a last resort, you can reset the printer to its factory settings. This will remove any saved network settings or custom configurations, so be sure to reconfigure the printer after doing this.
    • Navigate to the Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults option.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
