Hi @Myr4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for sharing the issue with your HP Ink Tank Wireless 415 printer, which asks for a custom password during network setup. If you don’t remember setting one, don’t worry, here’s how to reset it and get connected again.
Step-by-Step: Fix “Custom Password Set” Issue
Option 1: Restore Network Settings (Recommended)
This will reset the Wi-Fi settings and remove any custom password.
- Turn on the printer
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds
- The wireless light will blink. This means the network settings are reset
Now try reconnecting the printer using the HP Smart app or your PC.
Option 2: Use Default Password
If the printer is in Wi-Fi Direct mode, it may be asking for the default password.
- Look for a label on the printer (usually near the ink tanks or back panel)
- It may say something like:
Wi-Fi Direct Name: HP-Print-xx-415
Password: 12345678 or similar
You can also print the Network Configuration Page:
- Press and hold the Information button (i) until all lights blink once
- Look for the Wi-Fi Direct password on the printout
Option 3: Reset Entire Printer (if needed)
If nothing works, you can reset the printer to factory defaults:
- Turn off the printer
- Press and hold Power + Cancel + Wireless + Copy Black buttons together for 10 seconds
- Release all buttons and wait for the printer to restart
⚠️ This will reset all settings, including ink level tracking and preferences.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
