does my printer receive automatic firmware updates.  I'd rather it not.  Its an older machine and stable for me as it is.

Hi @REW22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To determine if your HP printer model 3511e receives automatic firmware updates, you typically need to check the printer settings or refer to the user manual. However, many HP printers have settings that allow users to enable or disable automatic firmware updates.

For older machines like the HP DeskJet 3511e, it is quite common that automatic updates are not as frequently set by default as newer models, especially if the printer is stable and has not prompted for recent updates.

To prevent your HP printer from receiving automatic firmware updates:

Access Printer Settings: Use the printer's control panel or software utility on your computer to navigate to the settings menu.

Firmware Update Settings: Look for options such as "Printer Updates," "Firmware Update," or "Product Update" and choose "Disable" or an equivalent setting.

HP Software Utility: If your printer connects to HP’s software utility on a
computer, check for the settings within the HP Utility app where you might find an option to turn off automatic updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
