Trying to print a PDF document one-sided, the printer continuously prints double-sided.

I have opened the PDF in Mozilla Firefox as well as Edge as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader. I have tried printing using the default print dialog (CTRL+P) as well as clicking "Print using system dialog...".

Following settings are all ignored by the printer, it is to say, the printer still prints double sided:

* browser print dialog setting "two-sided printing: off"

* browser print using system dialog "print on both sides: none"

* Windows -> printer -> printer properties -> general -> preferences -> "print on both sides: none"

* Windows -> printer -> printer properties -> advanced -> printer default settings -> "print on both sides: none"

The only way it prints one sided, is via app HP Smart -> printer settings -> advanced settings -> copy/print -> print -> default settings -> "duplex: disable".

This is not a way of working. The settings in the print dialog should be respected without having to deep dive into the HP Smart advanced print settings for every single print order.

Is this a known issue?

@Andr-1611 Thanks for your input and quick response. I have tried both option A and option B without success. Then, I noticed in device manager that the printer driver was not named something I would expect for this printer. So I uninstalled both the printer and the driver in device manager, then installed the printer again. This time HP installed another driver, with my printer name as driver name, which is more what I would expect. By doing so the printer now respects my preference to print one-sided or two-sided.

Try

A) Printer settings Duplexer:
Search Windows for 'devices', and then click the Devices and Printers control panel setting in the results.

Right-click the icon for your printer model, and then
click Device Settings tab
Installable Options > Duplexer: installed

If not, change to installed.

B) Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory:

Enter the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

Kind Regards
