I have bought a officejet 3830. It has connected wirelessly to my PC. The scanner works OK, but it wont print. When I go into settings the printer is shown in the list but underneath it says "driver is unavailable".
I have been going round in circles trying to download a driver for this god forsaken piece of machinery. Can anyone tell me in plain English how I get this thing to work.
All I want from this machine is to be able to scan and to be able to print from my PC. I have no interest in faxing, instant ink, printing from my mobile phone, or anything else.

@amwtools, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Which Version of Operating system is installed on your PC?
Installing a HP Full-featured driver may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:
Clean uninstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers(If any, else skip this step)
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
- Select your HP Printer
- Select Uninstall
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
- In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
- Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
- Click on the “Drivers” tab
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
- Select Ok
- Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
- Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.
Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver. (Make sure to choose your Operating system)
Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let me know how this goes.
