Hi @12405,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding driver for your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Officejet J4680 is an older printer model, and HP no longer provides dedicated drivers for newer operating systems like Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, you can still use your printer by utilizing the built-in drivers that come with these operating systems. Here's how you can set it up:

For Windows 10 and Windows 11:

Connect the Printer:

  • Ensure your HP Officejet J4680 is powered on.
  • Connect it to your computer using a USB cable.

Automatic Driver Installation:

  • Windows should automatically detect the printer and attempt to install the appropriate built-in driver.
  • Wait for the process to complete. This may take a few minutes.

Manual Installation (if automatic installation fails):

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click on "Add a printer or scanner".
  • If Windows doesn't find your printer, select "The printer that I want isn't listed".
  • Choose "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" and click Next.
  • Select "Use an existing port" (typically USB001) and click Next.
  • In the Install the printer driver window, select HP from the Manufacturer list.
  • From the Printers list, select HP Officejet J4680. If it's not listed, you can try selecting a similar model or use the Windows Update button to refresh the list.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

For macOS:

HP does not provide specific drivers for the Officejet J4680 on newer macOS versions. However, you can try the following:

Connect the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on.
  • Connect it to your Mac using a USB cable.

Add the Printer:

  • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
  • Your Mac should detect the HP Officejet J4680.
  • Click on the printer name to select it.
  • In the Use dropdown menu, select "AirPrint" if available, or "Generic PostScript Printer".
  • Click Add to complete the setup.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
