(The underlying problem which sent me down this rabbit hole was that for the last couple of days all documents [Word, Email, and PDF] go to the printer but just sit in the queue "printing" without ever coming out on paper. I've tried all the basic recommendations I could find -- deleting those individual documents, clearing out the print spooler folder, restarting everything (router, laptop, printer), checking for any failed Windows updates -- but I haven't been able to uninstall and reinstall the printer and its software because I keep getting Error 5 even though I'm running the uninstaller on Admin.  Other decides in the house can print, so the trouble seems to be in my laptop, not the printer.

These may be red herrings, but I've also noticed a few odd things during this period -- like old documents popping back up in the print queue, and my laptop keeps asking me "What app do you want to use to open this file" when I log on. (The file seems to be a Word document titled with my first name which I didn't  knowingly create and can't delete. Which sounds ominous, but the various Windows Defender and anti-virus/malware programs don't seem upset by it.)

I'd sure appreciate any advice or suggestions.

I am having a similar issue with my Envy 4500 -- print jobs began sticking in queue but not going to printer. Each time, I would have to run HP Print and Scan doctor to run checks of drivers, etc. and then it would print.  I decided to try uninstall and reinstall my HP printer software in the Control Panel (WIndows 10) -- and too, I get error 5 w/ a "caller of DriverPackageInstall must be a member of the Administrators group to install a driver package" Not sure what this means, but the printer is no longer being recognized by my computer.

Any feedback appreciated --
