My DELL Inspirion died a few days ago. Got it up and running. HP Envy 7955e drivers etc. lost ! trying to reinstall ! I'm running Microsoft 7 .  My Envy ran fine before. Went to HP . downloaded HP smart install. It asks about OS, Windows 7 is STILL an option and I'm 64 bit. clicked on those downloaded Smart startup. Went thru screens. added my pin # , then it says hold on while we look for files...then it gets stuck !

Hi @TEDbENVY,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you are experiencing issues with reinstalling your HP Envy 7955e printer drivers using the HP Smart Install on a Windows 7 system. Here are some steps that may help resolve this issue:

Check Compatibility: Ensure that your HP Envy 7955e printer is compatible with the HP app install for Windows 7. Compatibility issues can sometimes cause the installation process to hang.

Download directly from HP: Instead of using HP App Install, try downloading the full feature printer driver package directly from the HP support website, tailored for your model.

  • Go to HP Customer Support and enter "HP Envy 7955e".
  • Select your operating system as Windows 7 64-bit and download the full software package.

Run As Administrator: When running the setup file, try running it as an administrator by right-clicking the file and selecting "Run as administrator". This can sometimes resolve issues related to permissions.

Disable Antivirus/Firewall: Temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software, as they can sometimes interfere with the installation process.

Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows 7 system is fully updated with the latest service packs and updates. This ensures compatibility and can often resolve unexplained issues.

USB Connection: If you are installing via USB, ensure the cable is securely connected, and try using a different USB port. Avoid using USB hubs during installation.

Clear Previous Installations: If any partial installations or files from previous installations exist, this can cause issues. Use the "Programs and Features" utility in the Control Panel to uninstall any existing HP software before reinstalling.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

It took a while but I figured it out ! I did download the smart installer in the beginning . It got stock on trying to load webview2 , it couldn't. So I found that file and downloaded it . Basically nothing happened . All the while Windows 7 updater was updating. It had 55 of them. I looked at the install window for updates and saw that some files wailed to update. I was thinking maybe the newer updates killed them , don't really know ! I kept on looking at updater and finally it had no more files to update. So I tried downloading Smart HP installer. It got further , but stuck looking for drivers ! So I gave up ! That's when I posted this ! SO .... the next day. Turned computer on and .... MORE updates !  I let it update . Restarted computer and then HP Smart Installer was happy and installed everything ! I'm printing again ! It even prints faster... I mean the time it takes to communicate to the printer and then print, It's using WIFI , even tho the computer and printer are 2 feet away !
