I understand you are having issues while printing from your computer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

 

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes before the issue started?

How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless

Have you tried to check the print settings?

Do you have the full feature software installed on the PC?

 

In the meantime, let's try these steps here: 

 

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

 

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

 

If you are facing any issue while using the printer then try using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to this link: HP Printers - Using HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)  to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.

 

Let’s try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

 

Next thing, I would suggest here is to check the print settings for your print job in Windows 10, 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.

  1. In the software application you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.

    The Print window opens.

  2. Open the Properties dialog box.

    Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.

  3. Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:

    • Paper Type: If you are printing on photo paper, select the type of photo paper you are attempting to print on.

    • Print Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include Best, Normal, and Draft modes.

    • Paper Size: If you are printing on a different size of paper than you normally print on, select the correct paper size.

    • Black and White: If you want to print in black and white only, select the grayscale option.

  4. After selecting the print settings, click OK to apply the settings, and then click Print.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them by following the below steps If you're running Windows: 

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy  printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here(Please select the correct Operating system and version of Windows before downloading and installing the printer software).
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Did you by any chance update Windows 10 to the October update (version 1809)?

 

I was previously able to print to my Envy 5560, and then suddenly could not. Windows acts like it's printing, sends the job to the print queue, but then it disappears without printing.

 

The one thing I can think of that has changed since I was last able to print is that I updated to 1809.

 

I also have a brand new Surface Book 2 (work machine) that never had the printer software intalled on it. I had already updated to 1809 on it. I installed the software today on it, tried to print test pages from within the Windows printer (Manage Printer option) settings, and I get the same behavior as on my other machine, job goes to print queue and then disappears without printing.

 

I think HP has a problem with the Envy driver on Windows 10 1809.

I used the following workaround to successfully print to my HP ENVY 5660 on Windows 10 1809 on 2 different machines:

Click Windows Update.png

Wait a while after clicking Windows Update, it will eventually come back.
 
Select PCL-3 driver.png
Choose the PCL-3 driver for the printer series, and then finsih the installl. You might have to wait a few minutes for it to finish.
 
When you get back to the printer properties, click OK to apply the PCL-3 driver.
 
Now try printing a test page from the printer details.
