Hi @l-a-f-c,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP Envy 6000 series printer does not offer the option to print in color, there are several potential reasons and troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that there is sufficient color ink available in the printer. Low ink levels may prevent the printer from printing in color.

Print Settings:

  • When you go to print a document, make sure you have selected color printing in the print settings:
    • Open the document you want to print.
    • Press Ctrl + P (or go to File > Print).
    • Look for an option like Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences.
    • In the print settings dialog, check that the color printing option is selected. This option might be under a tab like Paper/Quality or Color.

Driver Settings:

  • Sometimes, printer driver settings can override application settings. Ensure that the printer driver settings are configured correctly:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners).
    • Right-click on your HP Envy 6000 series printer and select Printing preferences.
    • Verify that the color option is enabled in the preferences/settings window.

Update Printer Driver:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing issues. Update the printer driver to the latest version:
    • Visit the HP Support website or use the HP Smart app to download and install the latest driver for your HP Envy 6000 series printer.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer back on and check if the color printing option is available.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @l-a-f-c ,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Reset Printing System (Windows):

  • Press Windows + R, type control panel, and press Enter.
  • Go to Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select Remove device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Re-add your printer by clicking Add a printer and following the on-screen instructions.

Check Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and download any available firmware updates.

Check for Print Restrictions:

  • Some printers allow administrators to restrict color printing to control costs. If your printer is in a managed environment (such as an office or school), check if color printing is enabled for your user account.

Check Paper Type Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper type selected in the printer settings is compatible with color printing. Some printers may default to grayscale or black-and-white printing if the paper type is set incorrectly.

Additional Tips:

  • HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app to manage your printer settings, check ink levels, and troubleshoot printing issues.
  • Contact HP Support: If the issue persists after trying these steps I recommend you contact phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
