Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, went to print something from my laptop and nothing happened. Turns out the printer driver has disappeared from my laptop. I went on HP site to download driver for the Envy Photo 7155 and it states that the driver is unavailable. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.

@sfcm12, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Envy photo 7155!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like HP has removed the dedicated driver for the Envy Photo 7155, but you still have a few options to get it working again:

Use Windows Built-in Driver (Windows Only)

Windows often has built-in drivers for HP printers.

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners
  • Click Add a printer or scanner
  • If your printer appears, select it and install it.
  • If not, click The printer that I want isn’t listed
  • Select Add a local printer and try Windows Update to fetch available drivers.

Use HP Smart App

HP often directs users to HP Smart for driver-free printing.

  • Download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or HP’s website.
  • Open HP Smart and try adding the printer.

Use HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)

  • Go to HP’s Universal Print Driver page
  • Download and install the UPD (PCL6 or PostScript version).
  • This may allow you to print, though scanning might need separate software.

Try Installing Older Driver Manually

  • If you had the driver installed before, check if it's still in your system:
    • C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
  • If you find it, try reinstalling from there.
  • Alternatively, search for an older driver version on trusted third-party driver websites.

Use Generic Print Driver

  • Open Devices & Printers
  • Right-click your printer > Update Driver
  • Choose Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list
  • Select a generic HP PCL3, PCL5, or PCL6 driver.

Let me know if you need more help! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
