HP DeskJet 3632

I just installed this printer onto my computer.  In the instructions that came with the printer, it did not provide very specific instructions on how to set up a wireless connection to print.  I plugged in the usb to set up my printer and that seemed to work however I still cannot get wireless.  I then registered and figured out how to get a claim code.  I did all of that and now it is still not printing wirelessly.  I then looked at the instructions online and it said that if I plugged in or installed my printer with a usb connection first, the wireless would not work.  To me that is bogus and should be fixed, what company allows that to happen!!!  So far not impressed unless someone can help me fix this.  Do I need to uninstall first and then do all of this emal set up all over again?  I only got this printer so I could use wireless, if I couldn't use wireless or have it set up properly I would have paid for a cheaper printer.

Hi @MYoung14,

I reviewed the post.  Thanks for the quick reply. I was away on my weekend. (not a Saturday or Sunday). You've done commendably well. You've displayed superb technical competence, immense patience and a splendid temperament to try and get the issue resolved. Kudos to you for a job well done.:)

Please perform these steps:

Please check this link: http://hp.care/2gOwQGd  it has a Youtube video on how to convert a USB connection to a wireless one.

This should fix the issue. if it does not please follow these steps to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2f1getU and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Please check this link: http://hp.care/2uncTfy to setup the printer on a wireless network if the printer is still not getting connected.

Here is what it is telling me to do...

Change from a USB connection to a wireless network (Windows)

1. Open the HP printer software. For more information, see Open the HP printer software (Windows) on page 25.

2. In the printer software, click Utilities.

3. Click Printer Setup & Software.

4. Select Convert a USB connected printer the wireless.

Follow the on-screen instruction

The above instructions are fantastic and easy to follow.  I just do not know where to go for this as the instructions below are not clear for a windows 10 user.

Here is what it says on page 25...this is where I get confused as I have Windows 10 and am not sure which one to follow.  I am also not sure what exactly I am supposed to look for....I don't have a printer app.

After installing the HP printer software, double-click the printer icon on the desktop or do one of the following to open the printer software:

● Windows 8.1: Click the down arrow in lower left corner of the Start screen, and then select the printer name.

● Windows 8: Right-click an empty area on the Start screen, click All Apps on the app bar, and then select the printer name.

● Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP: From the computer desktop, click Start, select All Programs, click HP, click the folder for the printer, and then select the icon with the printer's name.

It took me a while but using some of what you suggested helped.  I had to do a combination of things, download drivers etc.  It was a mess.  I did achieve what I wanted and you definitely helped by providing the necessary information to get me there even if it wasn't the correct method, the info still helped so I thank you! 🙂
