Hi @pdcastille,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code "0xc19a0040" on an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 typically indicates an issue with the printhead. This error message often means that the printhead is missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve this issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check the Printhead Installation:

  • Open the printer's cover to access the printhead.
  • Ensure the printhead is correctly seated and securely installed.
  • If it appears loose, remove it and then reinstall it, making sure it clicks into place properly.

Clean the Printhead Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer and remove the printhead.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and the corresponding contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Let the contacts dry completely before reinstalling the printhead.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or debris in the printhead area that might be preventing proper contact.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available updates as these can sometimes fix issues related to printhead detection.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes a reset can resolve hardware issues.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source while it is turned on.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, the printhead itself might be faulty and may need to be replaced.
  • Check the printer's warranty status; if it's under warranty, contact HP support for a replacement.
  • If not under warranty, you may need to purchase a new printhead from HP or an authorized retailer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
