HP DeskJet 2827e All-in-One Printer

My HP Deskjet is not working with my laptop (windows) & I use a hotspot + USB cable.  Should this method work?  And if so, for how long?

Hi @cab28,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Yes, using a mobile hotspot for internet access and connecting the HP DeskJet 2800 to the laptop via USB can work. The USB connection does not require the printer itself to have an internet connection for basic printing.

Please try the following:

  • Connect the printer directly to the laptop using the USB cable.
  • Make sure the printer is powered on.
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Check whether the HP DeskJet 2800 series appears.
  • If it does not appear, install the HP app and use it to add the printer through the USB connection.
  • Try printing a test page.

There is no fixed time limit for using the printer this way. As long as the USB connection remains available, you can use it for printing.

If the printer is still not detected, please let us know your Windows version and whether the printer appears under Printers & scanners or Device Manager when connected via USB.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
