@cps6, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check Printer Installation Status
Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
See if any printer is listed.
If no printer is listed, you'll need to install one.
If a printer is listed but marked as offline or greyed out, continue below.
Add a Printer Manually
Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Click “Add a printer”.
Choose either:
Add a local printer → Use a USB-connected printer.
Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer → For Wi-Fi/LAN printers.
Follow the on-screen wizard to complete the installation.
Set a Default Printer
In Devices and Printers, right-click your desired printer.
Select “Set as default printer”.
If a Printer Was Previously Installed but Disappeared
Restart the Print Spooler Service
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
Locate Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter
Go to Control Panel → Troubleshooting → Hardware and Sound → Printer.
Update or Reinstall Printer Driver
Visit your printer manufacturer’s website.
Download the latest driver compatible with your Windows version.
Install and restart your computer.
Check Windows Updates
Sometimes printer drivers are installed through Windows Update.
Go to Settings → Update & Security → Check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
