Hi @aruane23

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the situation clearly. Let me acknowledge this: the message about HP Printer Assistant applies only to Windows computers. On a Chromebook, that tool is not available. The correct way to scan is through the HP App or directly using the Chromebook’s built‑in scanning feature.

Here are the precise steps for a Chromebook:

  1. Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your Chromebook.
  2. On your Chromebook, open the HP App from the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Once installed, open the HP App and add your printer.
  4. Select Scan from within the HP App.
  5. Alternatively, you can use the Chromebook’s built‑in scan option:
    • Click the Launcher (circle at bottom left).
    • Search for Scan.
    • Open the Scan app, choose your HP printer, and select the scan type (color, resolution, file format).
    • Save the scanned file to your Chromebook.

This way, you don’t need HP Printer Assistant. The HP App and Chromebook’s own Scan utility are the supported methods.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
