Hi @beckner

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Uninstall Previous HP Software

Steps to Uninstall HP Software: click here

2. Use HP Smart to Install the Printer

Download HP Smart:

  • If you don’t have the HP Smart app, download it from the Microsoft Store for Windows or the App Store for macOS.
  • You can also download it directly from the HP Smart website.

Run the HP Smart Installer:

  • Open HP Smart and sign in with your HP account (or create one if you don’t have one).
  • Click Set up a new printer and follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
  • Connect the Printer:
  • Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  • The HP Smart app should automatically detect the printer. If it does not, make sure the printer’s Wi-Fi settings are correct and try again.

3. Manually Install HP Printer Drivers

If the HP Smart app still doesn't work, try installing the printer drivers manually.

Steps to Install Drivers Manually:

Go to HP Support:

  • Visit the HP support page click here and search for your HP 2800 series printer.
  • Go to the Drivers & Downloads section and select your Windows version (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11).

Download the Latest Driver:

  • Download the full printer driver package for your printer model.
  • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Add Printer:

  • If the printer is not automatically detected during the installation, you can manually add it by going to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, then clicking Add a printer or scanner.

4. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, Windows updates may interfere with the installation process. Make sure your system is fully updated.

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
  2. Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
  3. Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
  4. After the updates are installed, restart your PC and try the printer installation again.

Clear Temp Files:

  • Press Windows + R, type %temp%, and press Enter.
  • Delete all files in the temporary folder.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
