Let me backup and rephrase. First problem: I am unable to register my printer because the serial number is rejected. It's:  CN4A6D30R1. I would like to backdate the firmware to the original version it came with. Is that possible?

Yes, it is possible if you have a firmware version you want to rollback. 

The problem is that when new firmware is released, the old one is removed, and can't be downloaded from hp.com anymore.

 

I have checked my archive and I don't have any firmware for your printer model to upload it for you.
