Solved: get double sided printing HP 4250 - HP Support Community

New (to me) HP 4250n, A4 selected, "Duplex unit (for 2 sided printing ) Installed" in settings/printers/printer properties for HP 4250 PCL 5, I select 2-sided printing from my word processor and then it prints single sided.

There is no automatic duplex on HP Laserjet 4250N you need to buy an automatic duplex assembly p/n Q2439B install it in the printer and then it will work.

If you have the paper type set to any the printer will not duplex as it doesn't know if the paper is compatible. You must set paper type to plain on the printer itself. This is one possibility. If you run the paper path test from the printer control panel does it duplex? If yes then likely your issue is driver or program related.

And if you decide to purchase a duplex assy, you will need to get an angled power cable ( if you don't already have it )

With the straight power cable, you will not be able to install the duplex assembly.
