Hi @ken1760,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Creating desktop shortcuts for your printer and scanner on a Windows PC is a straightforward process. Here are the general steps you can follow.

For Printer:

Find the Printer:

  • Open the "Control Panel" on your computer.
  • Go to "Devices and Printers."

Create Shortcut:

  • Right-click on your printer icon.
  • Select "Create shortcut."

Move to Desktop:

  • A message will appear saying it cannot create a shortcut here, asking if you want it on the desktop. Click "Yes" or "OK."

For Scanner:

Creating a shortcut for a scanner might depend on the specific software that came with your scanner. Here is a general approach:

Scanner Software:

  • Open the software that came with your scanner (e.g., HP Scan, Epson Scan, etc.).

Locate Scan Options:

  • Look for an option like "Create Shortcut" or "Add to Desktop."

Create Shortcut:

  • Click on that option, and it should create a shortcut on your desktop.

If your scanner doesn't have specific software, or you prefer a different method, you can use the Windows built-in scanning tool:

Windows Scan:

  • Open the "Windows Scan" app. You can find it by typing "Scan" in the Windows search bar.

Create Shortcut:

  • Once the app is open, you can right-click on it in the taskbar and choose "Pin to taskbar" for quick access. If you want a desktop shortcut, right-click on the app in the Start menu and choose "Open file location." From there, you can right-click the app shortcut and choose "Send to" -> "Desktop (create shortcut)."

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
