I had to get a new modem but the network and password remained the same. The printer - HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M227 fdw - went offline after the new modem was installed. When I go to the settings on the printer touchscreen, it requires a password to access the settings. I don't recall ever having a password on this printer. How do I reset the password so I can reconnect the printer to the wireless network?

Hi @cawfeehead,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I see that your HP Printer is not connecting to the wi-fi network after changing the modem.

You may bypass the need for password by connecting by USB cable and then changing it to wireless.

Please follow the steps listed in the document below to connect using USB cable and then change it to wireless.

Step 1: Connect using USB cable:

Please follow the steps in this document to connect the printer using the USB cable.

Step 2: Change from a USB connection to wireless:

Please follow the steps in this document to change from a USB connection to a wireless network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, using the USB cable did not let me bypass the password on the printer. I was finally able to figure out the password to the printer and then had full access to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Thanks again.
