Hi @bklynlibra,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When using generic ink cartridges in an HP printer, you may encounter an "incompatible ink cartridge" error message. While it is not recommended to bypass this error, as it could potentially lead to poor print quality or damage to your printer, I can provide you with some general troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue.
- Confirm cartridge compatibility: Ensure that the generic ink cartridge you are using is indeed compatible with your HP Officejet Pro 9015 printer model. Verify the cartridge number and specifications to be certain it is the correct match.
- Clean the cartridge contacts: Ink residue or dirt on the cartridge contacts can cause communication issues with the printer. Remove the generic cartridge and use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer carriage. Make sure they are completely dry before reinserting the cartridge.
- Reset the printer: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and power it on. This reset can sometimes clear any temporary communication errors.
- Update firmware and drivers: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your Officejet Pro 9015 printer. Installing the latest updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
