The printer only had driver support up to Windows Vista.

 

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the Windows Vista driver works from this reputable 3rd party driver site:

 

HP Deskjet 1280 series drivers for Windows Vista 64-bit

 

If that doesn't work, you will probably need to buy a new printer.
