i have windows 8.1, 64-bit. i'm trying to install an hp 8135e AIO device, and this driver is designed for windows 10 and 11. the driver installation fails with an error about it not being compatible. when I run the driver in Windows 7 or Windows 8 compatibility mode, the same error occurs. The driver software is not installed.
can anyone give me instructions for getting the driver installed on windows 8.1?
does anyone know of a new AIO device (print/scan/copy/fax) that can be installed on windows 8.1 (without running into a compatibility problem)?
Thanks

@helphelp4, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check for Compatibility Mode Issues
Even though you've already tried running the driver in Windows 7 or 8 compatibility mode, it's possible the mode isn't fully resolving the compatibility issue. Let's ensure everything is set up properly:
Right-click on the driver installer file and select Properties.
Go to the Compatibility tab and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:".
Select Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Uncheck the box that says "Display compatibility settings for all users" and hit Apply.
Try running the installer again.
Use HP Support Assistant
Download and install HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Once installed, open the application and run a system check. HP Support Assistant might be able to automatically detect and install the correct driver for your device.
Check for Windows Updates
Open the Control Panel and go to Windows Update.
Check for any pending updates and install them.
After the system is up to date, restart your computer and attempt the driver installation again.
Try Installing Using the Printer’s IP Address (Network Printer)
Open the Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.
Click Add a Printer and select Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer.
