Hi @bobg101,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

To lock in darker settings on your HP LaserJet M227fdn printer, you can adjust the print density or darkness settings to make your printouts darker. Follow these steps to change the settings:

Adjust Print Darkness on HP LaserJet M227fdn

From the Printer Control Panel:

Access the Printer Menu:

  • Press the OK button on the printer's control panel to access the main menu.

Navigate to Copy Settings:

  • Use the arrow keys to scroll to “Copy Setup” and press OK.
  • Scroll to “Default Settings” or “Lighter/Darker” (the exact name may vary) and press OK.

Adjust Darkness:

  • Use the arrow keys to increase or decrease the darkness level.
  • Set it to a higher level for darker prints.
  • Press OK to confirm the changes.

Save the Settings:

  • After adjusting, select “Save as Default” to keep the settings for future copies.

From the HP Printer Software (Windows):

Open the Print Dialog:

  • Open the document or image you want to print, then select Print from the File menu.

Access Printer Properties:

  • In the print dialog, select your HP LaserJet M227fdn printer, and click Properties or Preferences.

Adjust Print Density:

  • Look for a tab or section named “Paper/Quality” or “Advanced”.
  • Find the option for “Print Density” or “Toner Density”.
  • Adjust the slider or setting to make the print darker.

Save the Settings:

  • Click OK or Apply to save the settings and print your document.

From HP Printer Software (Mac):

Open the Print Dialog:

  • Open your document or photo and click File > Print.

Access Print Settings:

  • In the print dialog, choose your printer from the list.
  • Click Show Details if the settings are hidden.

Adjust Quality Settings:

  • Look for a drop-down menu such as “Layout”, “Color/Quality”, or “Print Settings”.
  • Adjust the “Print Quality” or “Toner Density” to increase darkness.

Print and Save Settings:

  • After making adjustments, click Print. Save the settings if available to apply them to future print jobs.

These steps should help you set your HP LaserJet M227fdn printer to consistently print darker. If you continue to experience issues or the settings do not save, ensure your printer drivers are updated, or consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
