You are welcome.
"Yeah, but" -- all good then.
Use what works.
I will leave my posts in place as FYI.
Happy printing.
For those reading --
The following example shows a possible basic Paint setup to print a photo at 300% across more than one sheet of paper.
The method to print the image larger than 100% or fitted to the paper is similar (though with fewer options) to the method that supports the image having been inserted into a document and then Exported to PDF for Poster printing using Adobe Reader.
Paint Print and Page Setup Reminders:
- Printed Cut marks and Overlap of each print (for example, Overlap might be used for alignment) not supported
- Printing Preferences (Shortcut and settings) should be adjusted / set before the content is opened to be printed
- Printer should be set for (able to detect) paper size and type (Printer control panel / EWS)
- Single / Selected section printing not supported
Example - Paint - Photo / Image Print at 300% - Page Setup and Print Preview

How to Make Your Own Posters Using Tiled Printing
Tiled printing is when you print out a large image over several pieces of paper, with each piece of paper acting as a “tile,” hence the name. From there, you line up the tiles to form a grid, thus creating your huge wall poster.
Banner Printing How-to
Create and print a banner, poster, or other large publication in Publisher
----------------------------------------------------------------
Example - Windows > PDF > Poster
Print PDF in Adobe Reader DC
Print PDF - Size or Poster
Open the PDF document in Adobe Reader DC
Click the Print icon
Open Properties
Set Shortcut to Everyday Printing (Plain paper, single sided)
Select your Paper Size
Click OK to save change(s) and Exit the Properties menu
Next,
Main print menu
Page Sizing & Handling
If printing at 100% or smaller, and the content fits on the paper, Page Sizing & Handling = Size
Then select Actual, Fit / Shrink to fit, percentage (wording varies)
OR
If printing “larger than 100%”, or the content size requires it, Page Sizing & Handling = Poster
Poster Printing - Notes
- If the page size is equal to or smaller than the paper size and you want the output larger, increase the Tile Size
- If the file is already larger than the paper size, it will be divided into Tiled sheets needed to print the file
- Enter an "overlap" and whether you want the "cut marks" included
When ready, click to Print

In case it sounded otherwise, I certainly did not mean my comments as a critique --
I am a teacher at heart -- I tend to verbosity, examples, and tedious explanations. Smiling.
True, too,
If you don't need the extra options (cut marks, overlap, even sized pieces, access to Preferences / Properties, or Preview),
And / OR
If you prefer to work with the photo file as opposed to inserting the photo into a document > exporting to PDF
Then
Any method that supports what you want, including the venerable Paint method is a perfect choice.
I applaud your insight.
Thanks for your comments and your interest to help others, too.
