Hi @macuser110,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re trying to print from your MacBook Air (running macOS Tahoe 26.1) to your older HP DeskJet 2135. Let’s go through a few steps to get the printer working on your new macOS version.

1. Connect the Printer With a USB Cable

• The HP DeskJet 2135 is USB-only, no Wi-Fi.
• Plug the printer directly into your MacBook Air using a USB-to-USB-C adapter (your Mac has only USB-C ports).

2. Let macOS Install the Driver Automatically

• After connecting, macOS should show a pop-up like "Setting up your device…"
• If not, go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
• Click Add Printer and wait for “HP DeskJet 2130 Series” to appear.
• Select it → Add.

macOS now uses its own AirPrint/HP driver, since HP no longer releases new drivers for the 2135.

3. Enable AirPrint Compatibility

• In Printers & Scanners, click the printer name.
• Make sure the driver selected is AirPrint or Secure AirPrint.
• If it shows Generic Printer, remove and re-add the printer.

4. Print a Test Page

• Open Preview or Notes.
• Go to File → Print → HP DeskJet 2130 Series.
• Check if the printer wakes up and responds.

5. Update macOS Printer System

• Go to System Settings → General → Software Update.
• Install any available HP Printer Software updates.

6. Reset the macOS Print System (only if needed)

If the printer still doesn’t show up:

• Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
• Right-click (or Control-click) in the printers list → Reset Printing System.
• Re-add the printer again.

7. Restart Both Devices

• Turn off the HP 2135 for 10 seconds and power it back on.
• Restart your MacBook Air.
• Connect USB again and wait for macOS to detect the printer.

I hope this helps.
