Hi @soniam1114

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you purchased a used HP DeskJet 4155e printer and it’s asking for a password (likely for the wireless network, or an admin password for the printer settings), here’s how you can reset it.

1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

If the password request is related to the Wi-Fi network or wireless settings, you can reset the network settings to clear any saved passwords. After resetting the network settings, you can set up the printer again and connect it to your new network.

Steps to Reset Network Settings:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. On the printer’s control panel, locate the Wireless button or Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Press and hold the Wireless button for about 10-15 seconds (you might also need to press the Cancel button depending on the model).
  4. After resetting, the printer will restart, and its network settings will be cleared.
  5. You can now reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network by selecting your network and entering your Wi-Fi password.

2. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings (Clear All Passwords)

If the password request is for an admin password or general security settings, you may need to perform a factory reset to clear any existing passwords and settings.

Steps for a Factory Reset:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the printer’s power cable and leave it unplugged for about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Once it’s powered on, go to the Settings menu on the printer’s control panel (depending on your model) and look for an option to Restore Defaults or Restore Factory Settings.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer to factory settings. This will clear all network settings, custom configurations, and passwords.

I hope this helps.
