I have a new printer that goes offline constantly. I can't speak to a live person to find out why because there's no customer service # for HP where there's a live person. I have to un install it every time to get it to work. I now have it hooked up direct from the printer to my computer, instead of wi fi and it still won't work. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to hook a printer up and get it to work. I have windows 10

Please ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

 

Next assign a Manual IP Address

 

- Print a Network Config Page from the printer. Note the printer's IP address.

- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.

- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.

- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250

- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)

- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.

- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS.

- Click 'Apply'.

Hi... thank you for your response however I'm clearly not as computer savvy as you and this is all Greek To Me. The odd thing is if I try to print something from email I have to save it to a PDF file for it to print it will print from some files but not all and it keeps going offline all day long

Do you experience the same issue when using different browsers to print from your Email?

 

You could try running the HP Print And Scan Doctor

Run PSDR v5.0.2 

Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status. 

Select the correct Printer and click on Next. 

PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing 

Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page. 

Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT” 

PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot. 

Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue.  If no issue found close PSDR.
