HP 7110
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I have an HP 7110 with a duplexer and it works fine.  I want to use custom paper sizes so I am trying the drivers for HP9800 and HP6980.  They both work fine for the custom paper sizes but neither will recognize the duplexer so I am unable to print double sided using the duplexer.  Any help would be appreciated.  I hope I didn't waste my money in buying the duplexer.

Hi,

To clarify further, duplex printing is only available in select paper sizes.

You cannot perform duplex printing on Custom Paper Sizes, only on the sizes marked as supported for a such.

Please see Page 103 of its user guide below, only the sizes marked as supported for Duplex printing can be used for two-sizes printing, any other size cannot be used for auto duplex:

You may perform manual duplexing on unsupported sizes for the auto duplexer.

From the print dialog press Advanced, set the Pages to Print option as Odd Pages only, then send another print job of the Even Pages only.

When you change print drivers, all the unique settings may not "transfer" over to the new driver.

Try / Consider:

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Right-Click Printer > Printer Properties > tab Device Settings >

Under Installable Options > Automatic Duplexing Unit > Select Installed > OK
