Is this machine capable of scanning a document ? I bought it to replace my F4180 which is no longer supported.

Yes, the HP DeskJet 2820e is capable of scanning documents. It features a flatbed scanner that allows you to scan various types of documents. You should be able to use the HP Smart app to initiate scans.
