hp app won't add printer

I am trying to add my printer to a new computer.   I've tried everything.  The printer is flashing purple, ready to connect to the network (I reset this in one of my attempts).  I'm logged into the hp app, and it shows my printer.  I click + to add, and it doesn't find it I have to search by serial number.  It finds it, I click add printer, and it flips back to the home screen of the app and does nothing.  I've restarted everything multiple times, removed the app, downloaded it again, nothing works.  Ready to toss this printer.
