After a partial reset I start the printer and it wants to do an ligament. I have  no  way to back out.
I continue, it starts the test and immediately after starting printing the test page it shows a blue screen error b8156boc.
All Buttons and leds (on the printer frame and on the display) are blinking. Also here no way to back out, not even the turn off button   works.
So I unplug the printer wait 3 minutes re plug and turn on.

At this point the officeJet9012 restarts , finishes to print the test page. And I  start again from the request of  align the print head.
I  did something like 15 cycles more  or less the same result.

how to come out  of this? and  even avoiding the elignment test?

Hi @pinco2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly frustrating—especially when you're stuck in a loop with no way to break free. Let's try to get your OfficeJet Pro 9012 out of this cycle and back to normal printing.

🧩 What’s Happening

The B8156B0C blue screen error seems to be triggered during the printhead alignment process, likely due to a firmware hiccup or corrupted calibration data. Since the printer insists on aligning before anything else, we’ll need to approach this carefully.

🛠️ Steps to Break the Alignment Loop and Resolve the Error

1. Perform a Full Power Drain

This helps clear residual memory:

  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then release.
  • Wait 30 seconds, plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Reinsert the cartridges and power it on.

2. Try Skipping Alignment via HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Go to Printer SettingsToolsPrint Quality Tools.
  • If available, try running a manual alignment or cancel alignment from the app interface.

3. Update Firmware (If You Can Access Settings)

  • Visit the HP OfficeJet Pro 9012 support page.
  • Download the latest firmware and install it using your computer.
  • If the printer won’t let you bypass alignment, try updating via HP Easy Start on your PC.

4. Use a Different Paper Type

Some users have found success by:

  • Inserting plain white A4 paper (not glossy or recycled).
  • Letting the printer attempt alignment again.
  • If it completes without error, you may regain access to the full menu.

Let me know how far you get with these steps, and I’ll guide you through the next phase. You're doing great hanging in there through this—let’s get your printer back in action! 💪
