HP OfficeJet 8702 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've stopped firmware update and cartridge protection off for my HP officejet 8702. I had all non-HP cartridges installed then one cartridge was identified as non-HP and would only accept HP cartridges. No matter what I do the one slot will only accept HP cartridges. Has anyone got any suggestions on how to get that one slot to accept non-HP cartridges. I have restored factory settings and reinstalled the printer programs and still have the same problem.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting cartridge error, I am glad to assist you.

If you see a Cartridge Problem error message when you are using non-HP cartridges, it is possible that a dynamic security feature has caused the printer to reject the non-HP cartridge. It is also possible that the cartridge has simply failed for other reasons.

The article you referred me to only refers to the Officejet pro series and only to the Officejet 6810, 6820 and 6950, not the 8700 series.
