Hi @roverjr
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet is not printing in draft mode, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Print Settings
- Open Print Dialog: When you go to print, click on "Print" in your application.
- Select Quality Settings: In the print dialog, look for a button labeled "Printer Properties", "Preferences", or "Options".
- Choose Draft Quality: Find the option for "Print Quality" and select "Draft" or "Economode". Make sure to apply the changes before printing.
2. Update Printer Drivers
- Check for Updates: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed. Go to the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your OfficeJet model.
3. Reset Printing System (Mac Only)
If you're using a Mac, you can reset the printing system:
- Open System Settings: Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-Click on Printers List: Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers.
- Select "Reset Printing System": Confirm the reset. You'll need to add your printer again afterward.
4. Reinstall the Printer
- Remove Printer: In your printer settings, remove the OfficeJet from your list of printers.
- Add Printer Again: Use the Add Printer option to reinstall it and make sure to select the appropriate driver.
5. Clean Print Head
Sometimes, if the print head is clogged or dirty, it can affect print quality:
- Access Printer Maintenance: Check your printer's control panel or the software on your computer for maintenance options.
- Run Print Head Cleaning: Follow the prompts to clean the print head.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
- HP Firmware: Check the HP support site for firmware updates for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve printing issues.
7. Use the HP Smart App
- Install HP Smart: If you haven't already, download the HP Smart app from the app store.
- Access Settings: Use the app to manage your printer settings, including print quality.
8. Print a Test Page
- After making changes, print a test page to see if the issue is resolved.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
