Hi @kathyziva,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this is. Your HP OfficeJet 4630 is stuck on the alignment page and refusing to clear means the printer is locked in its initialization cycle. This usually happens when the alignment process fails or the touchscreen freezes due to firmware or hardware issues.

Step 1: Hard Reset

  1. With the printer ON, unplug the power cord from the back.
  2. Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in directly to a wall outlet.
  3. Turn the printer back on and check if the touchscreen responds.

Step 2: Clear Alignment Loop

  • If the alignment page printed, but the touchscreen is stuck:
    • Scan the alignment page as prompted (place it face down on the scanner glass).
    • If scanning doesn’t work, skip to Step 3.

Step 3: Update Firmware

Step 4: Reset Printer Settings

  • If the touchscreen remains frozen:
    • Perform a Semi-Full Reset (this clears stuck states):
      • Power off the printer.
      • Hold # + 3 while plugging in the power cord.
      • Release when the printer powers on.
    • If that fails, try # + 6 for a full reset (factory defaults).

Step 5: Check Cartridges

  • Remove and reseat both cartridges.
  • Ensure they are genuine HP cartridges and not empty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
