HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My Officejet Pro K8600 wide format printer. I upgraded to Windows 11 and had a difficult time getting the printer to work. On HP, they no longer support this printer. They supplied drivers for a 8610 printer and that would not work and could not identify my USB connection. Finally, using Windows Update search I found the drivers for my model, but the software interface it installed is very basic and it has no option to print larger sheet size like 13x19 or 11x17. This is really frustrating.

Does anyone have software for this model that worked in Windows 10? If so, is there anyway you can attach it to a reply in a zip so I can install it for my printer?

This is really disturbing... I know this is an old printer, but it's been fantastic over the years and still printed beautiful photo prints up to 13x19 and fast letter size documents extremely fast and excellent quality in the normal setting. I've had no problem with it over the years. The only thing that quit working was the separate plug in duplex unit, so I quit using that. I hate to throw away a perfectly good printer and have to spend $4-600 for an equivalent one. Also, HP quit making stand alone 13x19 printers, they all include scanners, that are mediocre quality. I have an older Epson Perfection V600 that is fast and is able to scan high res slides, something none of the built in HP printers will do. I'm really disappointed in HP, I don't care if they quit tech support on this, but why would they remove software for it to try to force one into buying a new one? And the dl on their site for a 8610 doesn't include larger size prints, even if I could get it to work,

Hi @rhoag,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

"I understand you're having trouble using your printer with a USB connection. If your old HP printer isn't printing with generic drivers, it's likely because the printer is too outdated, and the generic driver may not support its specific features or printing technology on the latest Windows version.

"Since the printer is quite old, HP provides drivers for a limited time, after which they may no longer be available for download. As you're experiencing issues with an obsolete device, the best option would be to consider upgrading to a new printer. We have a wide range of affordable printers that can meet your needs. Let me know if you're interested, and I'd be happy to assist you with the purchase!"

Keep me posted

Take care and have a good day.

Well, from what I have seen at HP you don't even make a consumer level 13x19 printer anymore that doesn't have a low quality scanner attached as well. The HP 9730 prints Tabloid, 11x17, but not 13x19 and although the price sounds great at less than $300 a high yield 3 color plus black ink set is almost as much as the printer at $240

Thanks,

Hi @rhoag,

"If you're interested, I can check all available printer models for you and find which ones support 13x19 printing. Could you please confirm if you're specifically looking for an OfficeJet model, or are you open to any printer that supports this paper size?"

Let me know
