Hi @jackal36

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details, and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. It’s frustrating when everything seems connected but HP Smart still refuses to cooperate—especially when scanning used to work seamlessly.

Let’s walk through a few precise steps to help restore full functionality:

1. Confirm Network Mode

  • Ensure your printer is connected via Wi-Fi Direct or Infrastructure Mode, not USB or guest network.
  • On the printer’s control panel:
    • Tap Wireless icon > Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
    • Reconnect to your main Wi-Fi network (same SSID as your laptop)

2. Enable Web Services

  • HP Smart requires Web Services to be active for scanning and remote access.
  • On the printer:
    • Tap HP ePrint icon or go to Settings > Web Services Setup
    • Enable Web Services and accept terms
    • Print the Info Sheet to confirm connection

3. Access Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer
  • Note the IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.105)
  • Enter that IP in your browser to open the printer’s EWS
  • Confirm:
    • Web Services are enabled
    • Bonjour and WS-Discovery are active under Network > Advanced Settings

4. Reset HP Smart App

  • Open HP Smart > Settings > App Settings
  • Clear cache or reset the app
  • Reboot your PC and relaunch HP Smart
  • Try adding the printer again using “Add Printer by IP”

5. Install Full Feature Software

If HP Smart still doesn’t detect the printer:

  • Try using HP Scan and Capture from the Microsoft Store as an alternative
  • Or use the Windows Fax and Scan utility for basic scanning

Let’s get this working again smoothly.
