@joea79936, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Smart Scan!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I see that your HP Smart scan option is stuck in a loop, and I know how frustrating that can be. No worries—I’m here to help!

Let’s try these steps to get it working again:

Restart Everything – Close the HP Smart app and restart both your computer/printer. Sometimes, a simple reboot does the trick.

Check for Updates – Make sure your HP Smart app and printer firmware are up to date. You can update the app via the Microsoft Store (Windows) or App Store (Mac).

Reset HP Smart – Try signing out of the app, then sign back in. If that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall HP Smart.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor – This tool automatically detects and fixes scanning issues. You can download it from HP official website.

Check Your Connection – If you're using Wi-Fi, ensure your printer is properly connected to the same network as your device. A weak or unstable connection could cause the scan to hang.

Try a Different Scan Method – If HP Smart isn’t responding, you can scan using Windows Fax and Scan (Windows) or Image Capture (Mac) as a temporary workaround.

If you’ve tried these steps and still need help, let me know! I’d be happy to dig deeper into this with you.

Looking forward to your update! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
