I just bought the hp smart tank printer.  I want to print an 11 page document on both sides of the papier. But I cannot find the option to do that.  I did search and it said it could print on both sides.  I had the hp envy and it was easy to do the double sided printing.  But looked and can’t find it. Hi @Mommas15,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you are unable to print a double-sided document using your HP Smart Tank 5401 printer, you'll need to ensure the correct settings are enabled, as this model typically supports manual duplex printing. Follow these steps to set up double-sided printing:

Open the Document:

  • Open the 11-page document you want to print in your preferred word processor or PDF viewer.

Access Print Settings:

  • Click on File > Print in your application to open the print dialog box.

Select Your Printer:

  • Ensure that the HP Smart Tank 5401 printer is selected as the output device.

Configure Double-Sided Printing:

  • Find the option for double-sided or duplex printing in the print settings. This could be labeled as "Manual Duplex" or "Print on Both Sides."

Manual Duplex Instructions:

  • If there's no automatic duplex option, select "Print on one side" first.
  • Follow the prompts or instructions provided by the printer driver to manage manual duplex. This typically involves printing odd pages first, reinserting the pages into the tray, and then printing the even pages.

Printer Properties:

  • Go to Printer Properties or Preferences if more options are needed.
  • Under the Finishing or Layout tab, look for duplex printing options and make adjustments as necessary.

Print:

  • After configuring the settings, click Print to begin the process. Monitor the prompts to manually reinsert the pages for the second side.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
