I am facing the same problem with my HP DJ 4720 running on Windows 10. I cannot seem to print in colour. That option has recently gone missing. I suspect it is a faulty Windows 10 driver (which I have updated to the latest available on HP website).

It prints in colour fine using my MacBook Pro running on Catalina 10.5.4.

I Have the same issue on my Officejet 4655. It prints only in b/w because there is no way to select Color because there is no option. But if I print via mobilephone there is no problem! The issue is only in Windows 10.  I think that the problem are the drivers!

I am also facing the same issue here. Is there any update on the solution?

I have two laptops connecting to the printer. One laptop has been facing this "no color option found in printer preference" issue until now. Another laptop used to have no issue but now facing the same issue after I reinstalled Windows 10 with the latest HP printer software and driver 2 days ago (my bad!). Now both my laptops can no longer print colors! *facepalm*

I hope HP looks into this seriously as this is not just one isolated case but is affecting many users.

Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version 1903 build 18362.778
Printer model: HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4729
Printer driver version: 20.79.1.6597

Thanks.

Found the solution from https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/No-option-to-select-color-printing-in-sof...

The idea is to completely remove the printer software and drivers from the computer and install the printer driver that comes with Windows instead of downloaded from HP.

Copy-paste the instructions here in case the link above is broken.

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and "/s"

8 ) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

• Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

This is very frustrating considering I'm using an HP laptop and HP printer and I can't print in color when connecting wireless to the printer. The standard response from HP is no help and has been continued to be supplied as a fix...it is not a fix!

The only fix is to connect my laptop via USB to the printer and it works fine for color printing.

Please provide a real fix to this issue.
