Hi @tim1945,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer's firmware!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these troubleshooting steps:
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it from the power source and wait 2-3 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Check for Firmware Updates
If the firmware update failed or got interrupted, reinstall it:
- Go to HP’s support site: HP Software & Driver Downloads
- Enter HP 8139e in the search bar.
- Look for Firmware Updates and download the latest version.
- Install it using USB instead of Wi-Fi to avoid interruptions.
Reset the Printer
- On the printer, go to Settings → Restore Defaults.
- Select Restore Factory Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer and try printing again.
Reinstall HP Smart & Printer Drivers
- Uninstall HP Smart and the printer drivers from your computer.
- Restart the computer.
- Reinstall HP Smart and add the printer again.
Check Printer Status in Windows
- Go to Control Panel → Devices & Printers.
- Find your HP 8139e, right-click, and choose Remove Device.
- Click Add a Printer and let Windows detect it again.
Try Printing from Another Device
- If possible, test printing from another computer or phone via HP Smart App.
- This helps determine if the issue is with the printer or the PC.
If none of these steps work, let me know if you need further help! 😊
