Hi @abcd234249

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that after the firmware update, your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730 Wide Format All-in-One displays the message "Setup Not Complete", and the printer is unable to print.

I would request you to please follow the steps:

Restart the Printer

  • Turn the printer Off.
  • Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet and turn the printer back on.

Complete the Initial Setup

  • If the printer displays "Setup Not Complete":
  • Follow the prompts on the printer's touchscreen.
  • Select your preferred Language, Country/Region, Date, and Time.
  • Complete any remaining setup steps until the Home screen appears.

Check the Printhead

  • If prompted during setup:
  • Allow the printer to complete the printhead initialization.
  • Do not interrupt the process by turning the printer off.

Connect the Printer to the Network

  • On the printer control panel, open Wireless Settings.
  • Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Wait until the wireless status indicates the printer is connected.

Complete Setup Using HP App

  • Open the HP App on your computer or mobile device.
  • Add the printer if it is not already listed.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete any remaining printer registration or setup steps.

Print a Test Page

  • After the setup is complete:
  • Open Settings on the printer.
  • Select Reports or Printer Reports.
  • Print a Printer Status Report to verify the printer is functioning normally.

If the Setup Message Persists

If the printer continues to display "Setup Not Complete" after completing the above steps, please provide picture of the Error and also:

  • Does the message appear immediately after the printer powers on?
  • Are you able to access the Home screen, or is the printer stuck on the setup screen?
  • Is the printer connected to Wi-Fi or USB?
  • What is the current firmware version shown on the printer (if accessible)?

This information will help me to share the next appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
