Hey there! @superace, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand when you open printer application you are getting hpqtra08.exe application error Ink levels cannot be viewed.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
As you mentioned when you open printer application you are getting hpqtra08.exe application error Ink levels cannot be viewed on your PC.
HP Digital Imaging Monitor. It's responsible for inbound communication from the printer to your computer when the printer is connected to the network, so you need this for scanning and checking ink levels.
If you are receiving this error, you can uninstall and reinstall the software of the printer which is causing this error.
If you just want to stop this error, you can uncheck this program from Startup list of MSCONFIG. Click Start, Run, Type MSCONFIG, click OK. In the startup, tab uncheck this program. click OK and restart the system.
If the issue persists uninstall the printer software from the root level and install the full feature printer software.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.
Please find the link to update the full feature printer software. Link: http://hp.care/2Ga1oxd
