i installed the deskjet but it tells me that my printer can only do 10.6 versions and below

To find it out, click on the Apple icon > About this MAC

 

What is the exact model of the printer you are using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

 

How is the printer and the MAC connected?
