imprimante envy 4525

My Envy 4525 printer no longer prints in colour. The test page prints in colour, the cartridges are recognised and the ink levels are fine, but when I try to print text or a photo, it prints in black and white.

@electrode52, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Envy 4525 printer is printing test pages in color but not printing regular documents or photos in color, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure your document or photo print settings are set to color rather than grayscale or black and white.
  • In the print dialog box, navigate to the 'Properties' or 'Preferences' options. Check that 'Color' is selected under the 'Paper/Quality' or similar tabs.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges may not work correctly or at all with your printer.

Check Print Settings in Your Software:

  • Each software application may have its own print settings. Make sure the color option is selected from within the application you’re printing from.
  • On the print dialog window, look for options like 'Setup', 'Printer Properties', or 'Preferences', and ensure color printing is enabled.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure that your printer driver is up to date. Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause printing issues. Visit the HP Driver Downloads page for the latest version.
  • Uninstall the printer from your devices, restart your computer, and reinstall the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on to see if this resolves the issue.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure no other software is conflicting with your printing. Antivirus and firewall software sometimes interfere with printing capabilities.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Resetting your printer can sometimes resolve unknown issues and restore default settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
