Hi @JVEMMMD,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you encounter the “Busy. Please be patient” message while trying to reset your printer, it usually indicates that the printer is processing a task or is otherwise occupied. Here’s what you can do to resolve this issue:

1. Wait and Retry

  • Give It Time: Sometimes, the message may be temporary. Wait for a few minutes and then try resetting the printer again.

2. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn Off and Unplug: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug In and Restart: Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Once it powers up, try the reset process again.

3. Check for Print Jobs

  • Clear Print Queue:
    • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Find your printer, right-click it, and select See what’s printing.
    • Cancel any pending print jobs that might be causing the printer to be busy.

4. Check Printer Status

  • Display Messages: Look at the printer’s display panel for any additional messages or error codes that might indicate what’s causing the printer to be busy.
  • Consult Manual: Refer to your printer’s user manual for any specific troubleshooting related to the “Busy” message.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Hard Reset:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • While unplugged, hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to clear any residual power.
    • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and try the reset process again.

6. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Firmware Update:
    • Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.
    • Follow the instructions on HP’s site to download and install any updates.

7. Ensure Proper Connection

  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables (power, USB, network) are properly connected and not loose.
  • Network Status: If your printer is networked, ensure that it is properly connected to the network.

8. Try a Different Reset Method

  • Different Reset Method:
    • Consult your printer’s user manual or HP’s support website for alternative methods to reset your printer if the standard method is not working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
