Hi @Kiumars1970

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To get your HP LaserJet 1320 working on your MacBook Air running macOS Sequoia 15.2 (or a similar version), you may encounter issues because the printer is quite old and macOS may not automatically recognize it. Here’s how you can go about setting it up:

1. Check Compatibility

  • First, confirm that the HP LaserJet 1320 is compatible with macOS Sequoia 15.2. Since this is an older printer, there may be limited native driver support. But don’t worry — there are still ways to make it work!

2. Download and Install the Latest HP Printer Drivers

HP provides drivers for many of its printers, including older models. Here's how you can manually install the correct drivers:

  1. Go to the official HP Support Website: HP LaserJet 1320 Support Page.
  2. In the search box, type HP LaserJet 1320 and select it from the list.
  3. Under Driver - Printer, select the correct macOS version.
  4. Download and install the available drivers.

Note: If the macOS version you're using isn't listed, try downloading drivers for a previous version (e.g., macOS 10.14 or 10.15) — many older printers will still work with newer macOS versions even if the drivers aren't explicitly listed.

3. Using AirPrint (if supported)

If you are using a networked HP LaserJet 1320 (connected to the network via Ethernet or through a print server), it might support AirPrint, which is Apple's built-in wireless printing solution. If this is the case, you don't need additional drivers:

  1. Open System Preferences on your Mac and go to Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click on the + sign to add a printer.
  3. Select your printer from the list of available devices. It might show up as an AirPrint device.
  4. Click Add and then try printing.

4. Use Generic PCL Printer Driver (if no driver is available)

If you can't find a specific HP LaserJet 1320 driver, you can try using a generic PCL (Printer Command Language) driver. This should allow basic printing functionality:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + to add a printer.
  3. Select your printer (it might show up under USB if it's directly connected or on the network).
  4. For the Printer Software option, choose a generic PCL or PostScript driver (this may work even if it’s not specifically HP’s driver).
  5. Click Add.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel, thnanks for your message. I didi everything you suggested, but when I use MAC OS the latest version is 10.5. THat's ehy it doesn't work. Now I decided to buy a new one with which I can scan, fax, print, etc.

I think The Laserjet 1320 is meanwhile too old for this time. Thanks anyway my friend.

Sorry I did not mention you that I use USB cable directly from MacBook Air to the Laserjet 1320.
