I got some updates for Outlook, Word and Excel and suddenly I get these error messages like "Deskjet.driver" will damage your computer. Is there an updated drive I can download? Or do I just get a new printer?

@ljbrobeck, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
macOS includes a technology called Gatekeeper, that's designed to ensure that only trusted software runs on your Mac. For more info, refer to this document - Safely open apps on your Mac
Perform these steps to resolve this issue:
Check for any software updates on MAC
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
Reinstall the printer using Apple software update:
1.) Make sure the MAC is up to date.
2.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
3.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
4.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
5.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
6.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
7.) Try to print.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
