HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn
Microsoft Windows 11

I have been trying to set up the LaserJet pro MFP M127fn to my desktop. (windows 11 pro) It will load the drivers from HP and when it gets to 99% it states it has taken too long and stops.

i have tried many times.   uninstalled the software. Removed it from the system. cleaned any mentions of it.  from the

system, registry, files and so on. checked print spooler, changed cables, checked wiFi, used the HP smart install, scan doctor etc.  worked on the previous computer (os10) disabled virus checkers, vpn,  and any other to party software, had system load only windows files on startup and more.

any suggestions   🙂

@bcleveland66, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Make sure you're downloading the right driver for Windows 11 from the HP website.

Instead of just the drivers, install the full HP software package from HP’s website.

If using USB, connect directly to the computer, not a hub, and check if the cable is working fine.

Restart Print Spooler (Windows):

  1. Search services in the search box. Open the service menu.
  2. In the list, find Print Spooler.
  3. Right-click Print Spooler and click Restart.
    1. If it’s stopped, click Start instead.
  4. Close the window. Check if the issue persists

Temporarily (disable it in Windows Security settings) and try again.

In Devices and Printers, choose "Add a printer" and select the HP generic driver.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
